A waterfront house in Massapequa with two very different sides. Upstairs, the primary bedroom and the primary guest room open straight onto the bay through walls of sliding glass, with windows beside them that catch the same glare off the water. Downstairs, the living room and dining room face the street through matching three-window banks. The primary bath sits on a corner, with a freestanding tub under two windows. The upstairs rooms were measured mid-construction, before a single wall was painted. The problem was the same in every room: the view is why you buy a house like this, and the glare is why you end up closing the blinds on it. The windows needed an open view by day and real privacy after dark, and the sliders needed something that draws aside instead of lifting.
One language runs through the house: Norman PerfectSheer sheer shades in Soft White on the windows, and Norman SmartDrape vertical sheers in Lakeshore Stripe White on the sliding doors. PerfectSheer shifts its alternating sheer and solid bands from open view to soft privacy; SmartDrape draws aside like drapery but filters like a sheer. Two products, one behavior.
Primary bedroom: The wall of sliding glass wears SmartDrape, drawn aside by day to keep the bay in full view and closed after dark into a soft, luminous wall. The surrounding windows carry PerfectSheer, so the room reads as one calm space rather than a slider treatment sitting next to a window treatment.
Primary guest room: The same pairing at a smaller scale. SmartDrape on the slider to the deck, PerfectSheer on the windows, so the room works as a morning coffee spot with the water always in view.
Primary bath: PerfectSheer on both corner windows above the freestanding tub. The bands close for privacy while the light still pours in.
Living and dining rooms: Each faces the street through a three-window bank, and each window takes its own PerfectSheer, sized so the three read as one composition. From the street it is an even, soft white; from the sofa the family still sees out.
A house that reads as one design, upstairs and down. By day the bands sit open and the sliders are drawn aside, and the bay stays in full view. After dark everything closes into the same soft white, private from the water and the street alike. The house was quoted twice on identical fabrics and identical scope, changing only the operation: corded clutch, the original preference, and fully motorized on rechargeable remotes. Side by side, the trade-off became a number instead of a sales argument. Production lead times were confirmed with Norman at 16 to 21 days before any install date was promised.
